FAQ

Why did you decide to start a blog?
I've had various other blogs and I'm a regular Tumblr user (warning follow at your own peril) and so I'm not a stranger to blogging, but I felt like I had a lot to add to the discussion. I've spent a lot of my life thinking that I'm ugly/not worthy of love and attention and I realized that I was letting that reflect in how I was dressing. Last year at some point, I just kind of had a lightbulb moment - the only reason why others weren't finding me attractive was because I didn't find myself attractive - and so I decided to change that. Thus came things like makeup, a renewed love of shopping, etc. I revamped my look and I've been thinking for a while about sharing the changed me with the rest of the world.

What is your style philosophy?
I used to think that fashion (and by fashion I mean designer fashion) was a complete waste of time and just a huge money suck, but after taking a fashion class as part of my degree, I realized that I was wrong. There's a lot to fashion and the whole industry is very nuanced. It then piqued my interest and I've been getting more and more into it.

But I don't think that designer brands are the be-all, end-all of the key to style. I think that the keys are to be on top of the trends (what is in, what are you seeing in magazines, etc.) and knowing how you can adapt that to your own personal body type and budget. I think that the key is to pick pieces that are age-appropriate and reflect the type of image that you want to project. Do you want to look like a business professional? You probably should be thinking about getting staple pieces like jackets, skirts, and button-tops or blouses (unless you have the same problem that I do where you put on a shirt, you love it, and then you see it - the thing. You know, the cavernous hole that allows people direct exposure to interior side-boob). Do you want to look like a teenage girl? You probably need jeans and cute dresses, etc.

My philosophy, in short, is that everyone is capable of having a well-put together closet. Fashion/celebrity isn't about wearing things that cost $2,000 just for the sake of it. It's about finding pieces that look good for your body and reflect who you are and what you are about.

What camera do you use to shoot your photos?
I use a Rebel T3i, but it's really all about the lens, in my opinion. I'm using a canon 50mm lens, the stock canon 18-55mm lens, and a Sigma 30mm lens at the moment. It varies.

What do you do when you're not blogging?
In my real life, I'm a Master's student in Art History and a Curatorial Assistant for a national art museum. I also curate shows on the side and write for arts publications.

How do I get you to curate a show/style my closet/write an article/collab with me?
Just shoot me an e-mail and I'll get back to you asap!
